"BQE" This current body of work, mostly
completed in the last year, reflects the artists
Brooks Frederick's interests in the changing
landscape of the two places he calls home,
New York City and South Louisiana.
"Under the B.Q.E." is a painting done near my
permanent home in Brooklyn, N.Y. I was
interested in depicting both the construction
of buildings beneath the Brooklyn Queens
Expressway and the fleeting, abstract
patterns of sunlight that unfolded beyond the
shadow of the overpass.
